June 26, 2022I’m very excited, as whilst you are reading this, I should be tucking in to breakfast at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.  I was relieved to see the weather forecast and just hope that it doesn’t change.  I have planned to wear my Foil stripe dress because I know it is just so comfortable, and of course my trusty Caprice pumps!I love soaking up the atmosphere and there is so much to see, all of the cars and racing, displays and stalls, the Red Arrows, walking around the paddocks and of course food and drink.  It is always a long day and we cover a lot of ground walking around, so Annie is working Monday for me – bless her!  I’ll take lots of photos and share them on our social media platforms so you can share my experience. We’ve had a few online sales this week and the shop has continued to be steady.  Lots of visitors – friends meeting up, holidaymakers as well as my loyal locals.  And this is before the school holidays!  It was so lovely to hear from one pair of ladies who told me how they come every year, whenever they can and how they refer to us as “our little shop in Emsworth”.  Ha ha – my claim to fame at last.  Seriously though, I’m really proud as we have become well known and established, now in our 5th year in Emsworth and still absolutely loving it.I’ll leave you with a picture which I think feels like summer!  This fabulous orange is so summery and looks great on bronzed skin – coupled with a pair of the lovely wide leg trousers – a perfect summer outfit.Have a good week.  Look out for each other and be kind. Sending you lots of love, good health and best wishes. Our website is available for online orders, click and collect and delivery....Read more...

June 19, 2022I do love this spell of good weather – business has been booming! Sandals and trousers being the top sellers this week.  In particular our Marble wide leg trousers as pictured below.  These have an elasticated waist with a side split at the bottom of the leg.  Very summery and great for this weather and holidays.  This print is also available as a skirt.I was planning to get into the loft to get the fan down to take across to the shop, but now it has started raining and the wind has picked up!  Ever the optomist, I think I’ll still do that anyway, in preparation for the weeks ahead.  I hope it doesn’t come to much – imagine being at the Isle of Wight Festival!  It’s all part of the fun I guess.  We can actually hear the faint beats of the drums where we live, and I am really annoyed with myself as I missed the Red Arrows display.I managed to get out into the garden and tend to some of the weeds and enjoy the sunshine.  My hanging baskets are really coming on now, obviously thriving in the sunshine – unfortunately, so is the grass!I met with a really old friend and work colleague on Friday – we haven’t seen each other since before Covid.  We had so much to catch up with and whilst lots of changes have taken place, it was like we had seen each other just yesterday!  When you know someone so well, you are on each others wavelength and we were soon laughing and joking, teasing each other and reminiscing about “the old days”.  We won’t need to leave it so long until next time. It’s Father’s Day today – I hope you will be spoiling the men in your lives, whilst sparing a thought for those of us whose father’s are no longer here.  A day to appreciate and reflect.I always try to focus on the happy times, particularly when my dad used to tickle me and try to kiss me until we’d collapse into a heap of giggles.  I used to complain that his stubble scratched my face – I wouldn’t complain now…. it’s been 23 years since he died.  I’m sure he’d be very proud of me.  I’m always sad that he didn’t get to meet George, but we make sure we tell George all about him. It’s OK – I’m not sad – I’m grateful for the time we had and the memories I cherish.  It makes you appreciate those that are here – even when they do drive you crazy!Have a good week.  Look out for each other and be kind. Sending you lots of love, good health and best wishes. Our website is available for online orders, click and collect and delivery....Read more...

June 13, 2022Back at the shop this week and I really enjoyed it.  With this changeable weather, I had quiet spells which gave me time to update the window and inside displays, I did a stock take of the Robell trousers, re-arranged storage and emptied boxes to take away.  This made more room behind the counter.  I just hope Lyn and Annie can find everything now!Lyn worked an extra day this week as Annie has been away for a break to Nottingham to watch the cricket.  I had my hair cut at long last – it’s amazing how quickly that appointment comes round and how you don’t notice as it grows and loses its shape isn’t it?  On Friday Ian and I took his parents for our annual visit to the Stansted Park Garden Show – as always it is a pleasant day out and we picked up a couple of treats for ourselves. It has inspired me to get back out into the garden and get rid of those pesky weeds!  The weather looks more promising for the week ahead which is fantastic both for the garden and business!Today, Ian and I celebrate our 23rd Wedding Anniversary.  Nothing planned with the exception of gardening and maybe a glass of someting fizzy later. Here is a picture of the lastest Robell arrivals in light grey striped crop, which are now available on our website.  A lovely lightweight summer option for your wardrobe.Have a good week.  Look out for each other and be kind. June 5, 2022Well what a week!  It has been so wonderful sharing the celebrations together.  There is a true feeling of togetherness – the last few turbulent years were put to one side, so that we could all have a good old knees up and show our appreciation to the Queen.Well, I did anyway!  We cycled along to Lee on Solent where there were stalls, picnics, children’s entertainers, music and dancing (yes, including me). There was a terrific atmosphere of fun and partying – everyone happy and joining in.  We bumped into friends who we hadn’t seen for a really long time, the sun was shining and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves – a little too much, as you might imagine.  We had a very lazy lethargic Friday, recovering. It was a short week at the shop as we closed for the bank holidays, and I hope you all liked our Jubilee windows.  Lyn opened up again on Saturday and had a busy day, and I’ll be back on Monday.  We had a further delivery from Robell of the striped seersucker trousers but in a shorter crop length, which are already selling well.I really hope you have had a good time too – it’s back to earth with a bump in our house now, as George has two more weeks of GCSEs.Have a good week.  Look out for each other and be kind.
