Travelling to work on Wednesday felt like Christmas Eve – I knew I’d be closing the shop for the last time, and not really sure when we would be opening again.  If you follow our Facebook page you will have seen that it is pretty maddening that all the M&S stores which sell food AND clothing/footwear/home-ware are able to continue to be open! I think that is really unfair for all of us independents – it’s simply not a level playing field.  They should have to section off non essential items and lose that trade like the rest of us.  So as you can imagine I am not very happy about it.

I am using my time at home to add stock onto the website – it is a slow process but it is quite satisfying for me knowing that I am doing all that I can to provide products for you all to see and purchase even when the shop is closed.  If you’d prefer to make a purchase and collect direct from the shop, this can be arranged – just email me direct, and in the meantime, I am going to ask my website designer to add a click and collect option.  Alternatively, local deliveries are free and all website orders over £50 are free via Royal Mail.

Whilst this lockdown seems to be slightly less restrictive and you can meet outside of the home with one other person from another household and the children are at school, there are still many people who will be home alone and feeling sad and lonely, so if you can pick up the telephone or send a message, please do.  I have started adding photos, messages and videos onto my personal Instagram account KMH1970 for anyone who might enjoy a little entertainment – just for company.  Feel free to join in with comments, follow me and let anyone else you know, who might benefit from the company to follow – setting up an Instagram account isn’t too difficult!

In the meantime, I will continue to add feeds to our Facebook Page and remember there is a Facebook Group called Karen George – Just for You! which is where you will see the newly uploaded items and arrivals first before it moves over to the general Facebook page.

Of course it is Remembrance Sunday today and I hope some of you have enjoyed my subtle poppy window displays. “Lest we Forget”.

Stay safe, sending you lots of love, good health and best wishes.
