I received some very sad news on Sunday morning – the passing of my Aunty Beryl. What a wonderful lady – I always remember her being gentle, softly spoken and very glamorous! She is so well known in the Stubbington community, not only for her salon, Beryl’s Hair (now Hill Head Hair) but also for being one of the first women to be ordained as a priest in the UK.
My parents lived opposite my Aunty and Uncle and I will always be grateful for the kindness and support she offered after my dad’s sudden death and then her time and patience with mum after her Alzheimer’s diagnosis. She was there for me after the loss of both my parents and actually conducted my mother’s funeral, which I know she would have wanted.
A happier memory, one very proud fact about me, is that I may be one of the only girls in Stubbington whose Aunty married her!!! Yes, Aunty Beryl married Ian and I back in 1999. I am sharing a picture which is very special to me – even more so now. Aunty Beryl also shared a birthday with our son, George on 24th May.
Times like this make you very reflective and thankful for what you have, for those around you and the memories of those who are no longer here. The easing of the lockdown and being able to hug again has come at a good time. Life must go on and we learn to adapt to life without them and to enjoy the happy memories.
So back to business, our new Mudd and Water collection is doing well and I am sure that as soon as the weather heats up, our new Adini dresses will also cause a stir. On Friday, the final drop of our Marble order arrived – some lovely things and they are all now live on the website.
I had my second Pfizer vaccination on Wednesday and felt absolutely exhausted on Thursday and Friday but thankfully that has passed – a small price to pay for the alternative!
I was unable to take many photos of my walks around the pond this week because it has been so windy – one gust and I would have been in the water! I still make myself go though, as the exercise is very much needed.
