Are you familiar with Theo Paphitis?  He is best known for being one of the Dragons on Dragons Den and is Chairman of Ryman Stationery, Boux Avenue Lingerie, Robert Dyas etc etc… needless to say, a very successful and respected businessman.  Anyway, Theo set up something called Small Business Sunday, shortened to the hashtag #SBS on Twitter.  Each week he rewards small businesses that tweet him and describe their business in one tweet. This only takes place between 5.00 PM and 7.30 PM every Sunday.  Theo reviews and chooses his favourite lucky six who are then re-tweeted. As he has nearly 350,000 followers, this provides a massive boost to the chosen lucky businesses.  The benefits range from increased Twitter followers, to positive media publicity and hopefully, increased sales!
Well I have been trying on and off for months – I usually forget and miss the time slot!  But this week I remembered and the winners are announced at 8pm the following Monday evening.  To be honest, once I had submitted my Tweet, I forgot all about it, and on Monday evening my phone beeped, and then again, and again and again!  It was madness!  I was being congratulated and getting new Twitter followers all evening.  It was really good fun and Ian and I were laughing at all the activity!
This was my Tweet:-
Hi Theo – choose us because we’ve worked so hard to come through this turbulent year, looking after our loyal cusomers and now building online too!  Offering style and glamour to all ages, keeping our range fresh and interesting.  Most of all, we love what we do!
If you wish to follow us on Twitter our handle is @ShoesGeorge – I tend to share the same infomation across all platforms i.e. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and of course this email so that no one misses out!  Although the Facebook Group page usually gets prior notification of news, new stock and sale information.
It’s been another steady week at the shop with a few online orders off to Wales, Northern Ireland, Surrey and Worthing, followed up by some lovely reviews and feedback.  These are so important for independent businesses, thank you!
On Thursday evening Lyn, Annie and I went to JJ’s for our Christmas Do!  The food was delicious, the surroundings were magical and the company was perfect.  There was an entertainer singing Christmas songs and we finished up in the cocktail bar – and each had a cup of tea!!  We really know how to rock ha ha!
Scientists have warned that two doses of the Covid vaccine are not enough to stop us catching the Omicron variant, however a third booster prevents approximately 75% of people getting any Covid symptom.  Scotland have already tightened their Covid isolation rules and has encouraged people to cancel their Christmas party plans.  Of course things could change at anytime so we’ll all be keeping a watchful eye and keeping everything crossed that we don’t follow suit.  Despite this, we all appreciate that our priority is to protect each other and keep safe.
Hands, face, space – take care, look out for each other and be kind.
Sending you lots of love, good health and best wishes.
Our website is available for online orders, click and collect and delivery.
